Hi, I am a paediatric occupational therapist with experience working across the not for profit and primary health sectors, including positions at The Royal Children’s Hospital Melbourne and Amaze (Autism Victoria). I am a strong advocate for education and therapy in the early years as this is an integral time of child development and have previously served as a non-executive director for Early Childhood Intervention Australia (Victoria & Tasmania chapter).
I started Able OT after working on large system changes and being frustrated by the lack of flexibility at a macro level. I hope to offer families and schools an approach that builds capability at a level that can have a direct impact on a child or young persons ability to participate in their environment.
In addition to my OT qualification, I have a Master of Public Health and am currently completing post graduate studies of Neuroscience. I have led a number of projects to improve the access and quality of healthcare for people with disability as I am passionate about equity for people with disability in all parts of life. I have also held teaching and research roles in the tertiary education sector, service planning and translation to practice in the public health space as well as capability building projects in rural and remote allied health professionals.
I have a comprehensive understanding of NDIS funding and Disability Inclusion funding in the Victorian Education system. I implement a team around the child approach to intervention, which promotes participation in all environments. I work collaboratively with families, teachers, and other important people in a child’s life to build skills and ensure that therapy goals and intervention are holistic.
I have additional training in the assessment of Autism, have completed a sensory processing mentorship with The STAR Institute, and am certified to provide The Safe and Sound Protocol and Powerfully You curriculum. I have completed many other short courses such as; sleep matters with Kim Bathel, Polyvagal theory for OT, CBT, emotional regulation for Autistic children and teens, SOS approach to feeding, trauma informed practice, NDT for infants and toddlers.
Born and raised in north east Victoria, I am passionate about ensuring access to quality therapy for local families.
